Mezzo-soprano, Małgorzata Walewska, will perform in The Man from Manufaktura at the Grand Theatre in Łódź

24th of September 2017, Małgorzata Walewska will perform the lead female part of Zofia at a special concert at the Grand Theatre in Łódź.  It is the finals of The Man from Manufaktura International Opera Composition Competition with a prominent jury consisting of the Director of Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice Joanna Wnuk-Nazarowa, President of The Ludwig van Beethoven Association Elżbieta Penderecka and world-famous composer Prof. Krzysztof Penderecki among others. Two finalists Katarzyna Brochocka and Rafał Janiak will have their compositions of the first act performed by soloists, and choir and orchestra of the Grand Theatre in Łódź under the musical direction of Vladimir Kiradjiev. The libretto of the opera The Man from Manufaktura, written by Małgorzata Sikorska-Miszczuk, refers to the history of Łódź and shows the person of the amazing “king of cotton” Izrael Kalmanowicz Poznański who built factories and palaces. Nowadays, the Museum of the City of Łódź is located in one of the palaces. It is the biggest factory owner’s residence in Europe.
